So here's the story: i'm a wurdnurd who happens to be desperate to find a real job. not just contract work (which is what i've been doing lately), but honest-to-goodness, this-is-what-i-love, and i'm-staying-till-i-retire jobliness. unfortunately, i'm a wurdnurd who's in a tanking economy and very few people are hiring. so my unpaid second job has kind of become looking for a job. that being said, here are a few tools to help fellow job-hunting wurdnurds. good luck and don't give up!
Every local/county government jurisdiction that uses the Neogov software will be listed here. It's not everyone, but it's a huge
chunk nationwide.
California-only, this one is a different kind of listing software. Covers mostly Northern and Eastern California.
Has an RSS feed for recently posted library and library-related positions. Lots of academic postings, though public and special libraries appear fairly often. Also, under Job Seekers, check out the state-by-state job search tools.
This website is craaaazy cool! Click on your region, and local resources will be displayed, along with brief descriptions, update schedules and other information. Some of the links are broken, but it's an overall AWESOME tool!
For those who dream of a life in an academic or special library, you'll love this. LibJobs is a free email subscription service; sign up and you'll be receiving anywhere from 0 to 30 emails a day, each advertising a library job. Just be careful about what address you use, because the service does have busy days.
This is just something I've been working on off and on for awhile. So far, this file has all the public library hiring pages I could find for CA and WA. I'm half-way through OR, but I don't know when it'll be finished. Check back later for updates.
